Well there you go. I planted the first tree in the ground.
To give I the best chance, I added some sawdust from untreated wood. I will also add some root stimulator to help the roots dig deep. The trees have been through a lot. Moved 3 times. But. I think it will be ok. When I moved it last time it had roots the size of a pencil. Then all the leaves fell off.
Along with the saw dust I mixed in some organic soil and native soil.

Mixing the native and organic soil together helps the keep the tree from being too lazy. The organic soil helps it to grow roots relatively easy. The native soil is clay and requires more work to push through. This helps it to become accustomed to the native soil while still getting enough nutrients from the organic soil.
I'm careful not to cover the trunk with soil. And I also tamp the soil down with my feet. That removes air pockets in the soil. Another csuse of desease. It also helps the roots pick up water easier because they are in contact with the soil. Later I will add the root stimulator and plenty of water.
It only took a few minutes to dig the hole as the soil was soft from all the recent rain.

I will be checking on it regularly and will give updates as they come. If you have any questions or comments be sure to post the below. And as always, tell a friend and let's grow together.
