Don't forget the flowers

Not only are they lovely to look at they were beneficial for your garden.

Petals. Different pedal types attract different critters. Small petals attract small bees and honeybees can get inside and pollinate. Bumble bees are too heavy for smaller flowers. So they steer clear.

Tubular flowers attract humming birds. For example honeysuckle. Their long beaks can reach the nectar in tubular flowers.

You can also hang a humming bird feeder in the garden filled with sugar water. They will love you for it. Especially before your flowers bloom. They will come back for more later.

Large flowers like sun flowers and squash attract larger bees like the bumble. He's fat but the leaves are large and strong enough to support his weight.

The key is verity. You need to give critters an little extra incentive to come to your garden. The more the better. Also use a verity of colors and sizes to attract a wider range of critters. Spread them out so that they move about the garden in all directions.

So plant your veggies and beautify the landscape with an array of pollinating flowers, and you will find a microcosm of buzzing fluttering activity.
